REVIEW OF GROW AND GLOW WORKSHOP - JUNE 24TH 2009
The night was facilitated by an inspirational woman Triona Martin who delivered a workshop that encouraged the women to appreciate themselves and care for themselves as much as they care for others.

Review of Triona’s night in Curves
I would be very much a person who never gives time to myself, and always doing things for other people. The night with Triona gave me an eye opener. It was a night of de-stressing for me, a night to actually think about things that were happening in my life and take a step back and realize how I could change them. I felt totally refreshed after leaving. It was a very comfortable atmosphere where you could be yourself amongst other women.

Triona Martin facilitated a team building session for a group of 15 employees within a community childcare setting. During the session Triona was able to guide the team with great care and consideration. Triona's approach provided clarity regarding each team member's role within the organisation. Triona provided staff members with a medium, which enabled them to identify their individual strengths. Within the session staff members also recognised how to overcome their challenges within a team environment. After the session team members stated that they felt re-energised regarding their role within the team.

I am a member of Curves for women and last spring I attended a Grow and Glow workshop facilitated by Triona Martin. It was a brilliant night - great time out for me.
At the end of the night I felt very relaxed and I also appreciated how good my life is.

I am married with two young children and work full time teaching children with intellectual disabilities and autism.
At the time that I did the workshop I always had something to moan about. I was constantly tired and dealing with MAJOR P.M.S. I hated people who complained and did nothing to fix the problem but was finding myself being just that person. I was also trying to do everything perfectly and was burning myself out and punishing myself for not achieving it all. Between my work, my husband and my kids I was giving away a lot of my energy and the stores were running too low to leave any for myself. All in all I wasn’t in the best relationship with myself. I had no time for and was losing touch with myself; there was too much else on.
I went along to the Grow and Glow workshop with an open mind; not because I’m usually sceptical but because I really had no idea what a few hours of 'ME' time would entail as I’d kind of forgotten! I knew I didn’t want anything too heavy (I was going through a major ‘teary’ phase) and didn’t want to have to pour my heart out (that would have taken A LOT more than a few hours) but otherwise I was up for it.
The session was all about ME. It was fun, easy to follow and I never felt out of my depth or that I was going into ‘pouring my teary heart out’ territory! It was facilitated by Triona in such a way that I didn’t feel like I was surrounded by strangers or with anyone who would judge or question what I had to say. Every other ME there was from a variety of backgrounds and age groups. Some women already knew others, some didn’t. I was paired up with another woman who was very different from me but in the short time we worked together we gained a lot from each other. The activities left us chatting like we’d known each other for ages. It was a fun, safe environment to be ME again and that is what I needed. Everything was about the positive and not the negative.
Triona's Grow and Glow Workshop was the first time in ages that I was thinking about ME and not feeling guilty about it!
I had so much energy there and afterward, even though I had arrived exhausted. I came away with tools that I have since used effectively to remember ME in the chaos that can sometimes be my life. Now instead of complaining about my lot, I do something about it, don’t beat myself up not getting it perfect and most importantly I try to see what I can learn from it.
I’d recommend anyone to take some real time out for themselves by doing the Grow and Glow workshop. You’ll definitely be glad you did!
Thank- you Triona,
Judith Makris
