RAHAME CEREMONY - HEALING AND EMBRACING YOUR TRUE FEMININE

The seat of a woman's personal power and femininity is her womb.

Many women are not in touch with their true feminine and so find themselves experiencing difficulties in the workplace, home and in relationships.

These situations can lead to a feeling of dis-empowerment, and if repeated continually without being addressed and healed, can even cause physical dis-ease in the body.

Problems like irregular menstrual cycle, pain, weight gain, hormone imbalance, a sense of worthlessness, feelings of not being valued , weariness and powerlessness in some areas of their lives are all symptoms I have been privy to in one to one sessions with women.

For some women the major operation of hysterectomy has brought huge feelings of loss on physical, mental and emotional levels that they were not prepared for.

One woman described it this way " I feel that there is a big black hole- empty- where my womb was".

In recent years I have healed the feminine in myself and embraced my goddess energy. Through this healing I saw how I behaved and experienced life was not serving me positively and more importantly I learned how to be in my feminine power in a positive way.

My spirit teachers gifted me with the Rahame ritual and ceremony for women of all ages.

Drawing on this feminine energy allows me to perform Rahame ceremonial and ritual healing work with women who are scarred through mental, physical, sexual, emotional or spiritual abuse.

It is a very beautiful and powerful shamanic healing skill that has benefited every woman who has experienced it.

THOSE NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS!!!

Many years ago I gave up the traditional idea of making new year resolutions.

Why?

Because within a month I felt deprived of things and got really fed up with trying!

I decided the best way for me to approach a new year was to turn around the idea of giving up, and focussing on the positive.

Firstly I look at what I have achieved in the previous year and acknowledge it all and gave thanks for the experiences.

Then I look at what I want to bring into my life in 2010 - whether that be helpful people, new friends, experiences, change of job etc. - and I ask myself  " what can I do to achieve all this?"

Some things may be quite easy to achieve and others may take some time.

By doing this I feel that I am being positive, using the resources I have and taking control of my life and experiences.

Maybe you too can try this and see how it works for you.

GROW AND GLOW FOR GROUPS SLIEVE GULLION SPA 20TH SEPT. 2009

Grow and Glow travelled north to the beautiful venue which is Slieve Gullion Spa, Mullaghbawn. Co. Armagh last Monday evening the 20th September.

20 ladies of all ages attended the workshop in surroundings which were beautiifully prepared by Linda Strain owner of the spa.

We started at 7.30 with the opening and creation of a safe and positive circle .

The ladies were paired off for the first piece of work which was about owning our gifts and accepting compliments.

A short shamanic journey followed where a lot of insight was gained into our strengths.

We then took a short break for a much needed coffee break.

Using the method of pie - chart we mapped out our lives and looked at the areas where we would like to make changes.

Following this the ladies worked together in groups of four helping each other, listening, and acknowledging each others experiences.

For me it was a great opportunity to yet again be witness to a wonderful group of women and their journeys.

Thank you to all who attended and to Linda for the venue.

GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED - ANONYMOUS .

1. RAISING TEENAGERS IS LIKE NAILING JELLY TO A TREE.

2. WRINKLES DON'T HURT

3. FAMILIES ARE LIKE FUDGE...MOSTLY SWEET, WITH A FEW NUTS.

4. TODAY'S MIGHTY OAK IS JUST YESTERDAY'S NUT THAT HELD IT'S GROUND.

5. LAUGHING IS GOOD EXERCISE - IT'S LIKE JOGGING ON THE INSIDE.

6. MIDDLE AGE IS WHEN YOU CHOOSE YOUR CEREAL FOR THE FIBER AND NOT THE TOY.

7. GROWING OLD IS MANDATORY; GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL.

8. FORGET THE HEALTH FOOD - I NEED ALL THE PRESERVATIVES I CAN GET.

9. WHEN YOU FALL DOWN, YOU WONDER WHAT ELSE YOU CAN DO WHILE YOU'RE DOWN THERE.

10.YOU'RE GETTING OLD WHEN YOU GET THE SAME SENSATION FROM A ROCKING CHAIR THAT YOU ONCE GOT FROM A ROLLER COASTER.

11. IT'S FRUSTRATING WHEN YOU KNOW ALL THE ANSWERS BUT NOBODY BOTHERS TO ASK YOU THE QUESTIONS.

12. TIME MAY BE A GREAT HEALER, BUT IT'S A LOUSY BEAUTICIAN.

13. WISDOM COMES WITH AGE, BUT SOMETIMES AGE COMES ALONE.

45 LESSONS ... LIFE TAUGHT ME

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio

(To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me)

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone for everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's,we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come.

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."

TRUSTING YOURSELF.

So you find yourself with a problem.

Whats the first thing you do? Try and figure it out logically?

That may work, however sometimes in trying to reason it out we do not always get the answer.

In using our rational mind we bypass our intuition, the feelings we have and insight given to us.

Next time you have a problem - stop - breathe - close your eyes and trust your intuition to solve the problem for you.

You will be surprised at the insight you will receive and the problem will be solved in no time.

THOUGHTS ON THE THIGH - JUDY ROSE

There was a time when shafts of light
Fell softly twixt those thighs;
Once slim and firm, but o'er the years
Ive witnessed their demise.

Once quite restrained but now I sense
They have a separate will;
They seem to go on wobbling
Long after Ive stood still!

Once unobtrusive, merely 'there'
But nowadays it seems
They are a true impediment
When pulling on my jeans.
You say "Work out and diet?"
But such options I decry...

I'll just accept that it's my fate
To heave a heavy thigh!

WOMAN WORK - MAYA ANGELOU

Share y Maya Angelou

I've got the children to tend
The clothes to mend
The floor to mop
The food to shop
Then the chicken to fry
The baby to dry
I got company to feed
The garden to weed
I've got shirts to press
The tots to dress
The can to be cut
I gotta clean up this hut
Then see about the sick
And the cotton to pick.

Shine on me, sunshine
Rain on me, rain
Fall softly, dewdrops
And cool my brow again.

Storm, blow me from here
With your fiercest wind
Let me float across the sky
'Til I can rest again.

Fall gently, snowflakes
Cover me with white
Cold icy kisses and
Let me rest tonight.

Sun, rain, curving sky
Mountain, oceans, leaf and stone
Star shine, moon glow
You're all that I can call my own.

TIME TO PRACTICE WEARING PURPLE - BY JENNY JOSEPH

When i am an old woman, I shall wear purple
with a red hat that doesnt go, and doesnt suit me.
And i shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
and satin candies, and say weve no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when i am tired
and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
and run my stick along the public railings
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick the flowers in other peoples gardens
and learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at a go
or only bread and pickles for a week.
and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
and pay our rent and not swear in the street
and set a good example for the children.

We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old and start to wear purple.

PHENOMENAL WOMAN - BY MAYA ANGELOU (excerpt of her poem)

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.

Im not cute or built to suit a fashion models size
but when i start to tell them,
they think i am telling lies.

I say,
Its in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.

Im a woman,
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
Thats me.

CURVES PROMOTION DAY

Its been a week since the promotion day in Curves gym, Dundalk. What a great day that was. Lots of interest in Grow and Glow and a fun time as well.

One of the things I did on the day was to ask each person two questions:

1) What are the 3 things in your life you would like to change?
2) Name 3 positive things about yourself?

The first question was answered with enthusiasm by all , however the second question was a difficulty for the majority of women.

The changes women wanted to make were:

-More me time.
-Good relationships with children.
-Lose weight.
-To stop worrying unnecessarily.
-More routine in their lives.
-To not feel that they have to do certain things.
-To be able to say no and not feel guilty about it.

And the list goes on....

Positive things about themselves were- when answered ( 40% answered)

-I am a good friend.
-A good listener.
-A good neighbour.
-I am well organized in the house.

As much as these are good qualities - it saddened me to see that they saw only the roles they played for others as being their positive qualities.

The promotion day was a useful exercise for me, as I gathered information about womens concerns, from those in their 20s to the eldest 65.

70% of those who took the Grow and Glow quiz discovered that they could do with making alot of changes in their lives....

95% all said that their workout for one half hour 3 times a week (trying to lose weight ) was their Me Time.

All felt that Grow and Glow was a great concept and felt that they would benefit from it.

Thank you to all the women who shared with me.

I CELEBRATE ME!

I was given this lovely poem, prayer, blessing today by a friend from his mother to wish me luck with Grow and Glow.

I am worth celebrating. I am worth everything. I am unique. In the whole world there is only me.

There is only one person with my talents, experiences and gifts.

No one may take my place.

God created only one me, precious in his sight. I have immense potential to love, care, create, grow, sacrifice, if I believe in myself.

It doesnt matter my age, or colour.

It doesnt matter what I have been, the things Ive done, mistakes Ive made, people I've hurt.

I am forgiven.

I am accepted, I am ok. I am loved in spite of everything. So I love myself and nourish seeds within me.

I celebrate me.

I begin now, start anew. I give myself a new birth today. I am me, and thats all i need to be.

This is a new beginning, a new life given freely. So I celebrate the miracles and i celebrate me.

WHERE DOES TIME GO?

How many times have you said - where has the time gone, there are not enough hours in the day, I didnt get time to myself today or maybe even this week!

Do you find yourself rushing around, multi-tasking, trying to catch up?

Time is precious - YOUR TIME IS PRECIOUS.

You can start to manage your time and so make time for you in these simple ways:

1. Make a list of things that you feel need to be done.

2. Look at the list and decide which are important.

3. Stop procrastinating! - it doesnt get the jobs done.

4. Say no when necessary.

5. Delegate - others will be delighted to help you out.

6. Enjoy the time you now have free and use it to do something you want to do.

I WOULD LOVE TO THAT... BUT COULDNT BECAUSE...

Have you ever used that phrase or thought about something you would like to do or say and feel that you cannot?

We have wishes and dreams not yet lived , not because we tried and failed , because we never tried at all.

What would you love to say or do and havent because you fear rejection, laughter, being different or foolish?

Just for today live your truth, be brave take a risk.

Let your courage today set the foundation for all the tomorrows.

HOW TO FREE YOURSELF AND BE WHO YOU ARE

Ladies we wear many hats - mother, wife, partner, employee, friend, carer, aunt, grandmother and daughter.

Sometimes we find ourselves wearing two or more hats at the same time!

This can create a feeling of being pulled upon from every direction and can interfere with our own needs and our dreams and wishes.

How many times have you put others needs before your own?

Maybe it leaves you feeling resentfull?

No matter what your responsibilities are - always remember that you are free to be you and to have your needs fulfilled.

FEELING THE GLOW

We are so conditioned and used to listening to our negative thoughts about ourselves - how about just for today listening to positive thoughts?

Say these out loud in front of your mirror.

The best thing I have ever done is ......

I feel powerful when........

I feel attractive when.............

I know I look good when I wear..........

My best asset is............

The thing I really like about myself is......

I feel sexy when...........

You might find is difficult or uncomfortable the first time you do this, however keep trying and soon the negative thoughts will just leave.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

As a mum I have had 25 years of planning birthday parties for my daughters - the invites, cooking, serving, games, row, party bags and the cleaning up.

This week it was my birthday and my daughters organized and orchestrated the best kept secret celebration for me- which included tracking down and finding one of my old and dearest friends who I had not seen for 3 years.

My part was to be dressed nicely and ready for 5.30pm when my youngest daughter Michelle took me off for coffee and distraction!

Jennifer my eldest daughter went on overdrive for an hour and when I arrived back I was met with house and garden decorated, music playing, enough food to feed an army and friends greeting me with so much joy, regard and affection.

This was the first occasion that my daughters had created a birthday celebration for me.

The night went on to the early hours of the next day and was enjoyed by all.

For the first time I did not have to organise, sort out, fix or make sure a party was a success - i just enjoyed and relaxed.

I quite happily put aside my learned need to make sure everyone was happy and I allowed myself to enjoy all that my daughters had gifted to me.

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW

'MAYA ANGELOU'S'
BEST POEM EVER

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .
Enough
Money within her control to move out
And rent a place of her own,
Even if she never wants to or needs to....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .
Something
Perfect to wear if the employer,
Or date of her dreams
Wants to see her in an hour...

A WOMAN SHOULD
HAVE .
A youth she's content to leave behind....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .
A past juicy
Enough that she's looking forward to
Retelling it in her
Old age....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .
A set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .
One friend who
Always makes her laugh.. And one who lets her cry....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .
A good piece
Of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her
Family...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
Eight
Matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
And a recipe for
A meal,
That will make her guests feel honored...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE
A feeling of
Control over her destiny..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD
KNOW...
How to fall in love without losing herself..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW....
How to quit
A job,
Break up with a lover,
And confront a friend
Without;
Ruining the friendship...

EVERY WOMAN
SHOULD KNOW...
When to try harder... And WHEN TO WALK
AWAY...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW....
That she can't change the length of her calves,
The width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW....
That her
Childhood may not have been perfect...but it's over...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW..
What she
Would and wouldn't do for love or more....

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW....
How to live
Alone.... Even if she doesn't like it...

EVERY
WOMAN SHOULD KNOW..
Whom she can trust,
Whom she can't,
And why she shouldn't take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
Where to
Go...
Be it to her best friend's kitchen table..
Or a
Charming Inn in the woods....
When her soul needs
Soothing...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW..
What she can and can't accomplish in a day...
A
Month...and a year...

Do you ever find that you say to yourself - "I'm hopeless at that, I can't do that, I look awful!"

The more that you say negative things about yourself - the more you will believe them and unfortunately so will others!

Your confidence levels will slowly drop.

Today start to be nice to you.

Instead of saying "I cant do something, I'm no good at...,
Say I will try to do that, I'm getting better at that.

Today start by telling yourself 3 things that you are good at - give yourself 3 compliments.

You will see that you feel better instantly.

We women are so good at giving away our time, energy and love.

Everyone seems to need us!

Do you ever feel like shouting- What about me?

Next time someone asks a favour - see how you feel.

If you say yes but feel fear, anger, resentment maybe its time to create a new boundary for yourself.

You can still be a great mother, friend, partner, work colleague, and still say no.

CELEBRATING MAMMY-NESS

Like many of you out there I am a mammy and my two daughters began to celebrate my ’mammy-ness’ (with constant hints and reminders from their school teachers) yearly with breakfast in bed, home made cards and flowers picked from the garden.

As they got older, armed with their pocket money, they graduated to Hallmark cards, and flowers wrapped in crinkly paper. Doing their best to create space in their schedules, they took care of the dinner and washing up when they could.

I always felt that the Mammy–ness was only one aspect of who I was – so why was the rest of me not celebrated?

Where was the Hallmark card for that? What about the other 364 days of the year?

Let today be the day that you decide to celebrate yourself.

Do something that makes you feel good.

Give yourself some quality me-time every day.

Today wear your Mammy-ness crown with joy and when the day is over make a promise to yourself that the celebration of you continues.

Celebrate yourself Growing and Glowing!

I'm delighted to welcome you to my Grow and Glow website. I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to share with you what Grow and Glow is all about, and how this programme can not only assist you in living the life of your dreams but empower you to acheive more in your life than you may ever have thought possible. Tall order? Take a look at my before and after pics and you'll see for yourself!

Limitations are what we set for ourselves. The Grow and Glow programme is designed to assist you to see the limitations you may have been putting on your own life to date. Limitations which lead to living with low self-esteem, and your self-confidence on the floor.

Instead of living a life of quiet desperation, that sadly so many woman in our society settle for, you can change your future by doing things in the present differently. One of those ways is by deciding you ARE important enough to take care of yourself, and by giving yourself what you truly need in order to be able to live a balanced life. If you don't take care of yourself it's impossible to take care of anyone else. Sacrifice only leads to resentment of those we love in the long run.

Grow and Glow offers you tools to ensure your future does not have to be a continuation of your past. Despite the general doom and gloom that seems to currently surround us, the reality is that life is bright, life is joyful. If you've lost touch with that feeling you owe it to yourself to do whatever you need to do to get it back.

Let me help you.
